Karl and I got 6 nice cob (between 1kg and 3kg) just off Blake's this morning. Great conditions. Will probably head out in Strand on Sunday morning again.

Well done Rob, beauty of a fish. Odd that the fish came out in such relatively cold water. I also managed to get a 4.5kg last night and hopefully we will get some more today.

I was just lucky, they also stopped me and I managed to talk my way through without them looking at anything. I wasn't in the mood for discussion after losing my cell phone!

Your crayfish permit which you purchased from the post office most definitely plays a part which u would have established if you had not blanked (u have to record the details of your catches on that form)....We had all the correct payments paid, it was just the photocopy as mentioned which was a problem for these idiots. Have taken it further and seems speaking with the right people already to get this idiot inspector a talking too!!! Yes heard about your ordeal as well! Whipping

Sean,

Your crayfish permit which you purchased from the post office is out of the ‘equation’ here. At the entrance gate you need to pay an additional fee for catching crayfish and for fishing which amounts to R70. Those dagga rookers check your slip if you have paid for the above if not they will confiscate your crayfish or fish followed with a fine.
They have pulled me also off and searched EVERYWHERE in my car and yes even underneath the spare wheel after I have told them I caught nothing!(ya I blanked) I was seriously pissed!
Me and Paddy went to Kommetjie afterwards and got quota within 1.5hours. We came out about 16:20....... and guess what?! That doos came out of the bush and told us to throw ALL OUR CRAYFISH BACK as we are only allowed to catch till 16:00!
I accept the fact that we had to throw our crayfish back. But to f*ckin pay another R70 on top of your entrance fee for fishing and crayfishing is ridiculous! What happens if you caught nothing?? Which means your money will be total waste.... if this is the case Cape Point will only see me when the snoek bites..
I am sure we as a community/club can approach SANPARK to review their rates or to implement a new system for the people that hit blanks lol, after all we are all locals! Their price is OK to rip the tourists off NOT US!

Got fined R250 rand for "no permit"!!!!!

Post by Sean Wethmar on Sun Dec 19, 2010 10:44 am

Guys listen to this bullshit! Inspectors pulled us over before the main gate, we mentioned we had crays and produced licenses. Mine was a copy of the original (i keep copies in my car and my kayaks etc) Black Inspector and his cronies (looked like dagga rookers) says was not good enough and confiscated my 3 crays (yes only 3 cause its all i had) and gave me a fine of R250 for not having a valid permit and to top it off refused to acknowledge on the fine that i could even produced a copy of the permit!! They took the crays in as evidence with a serial number.

What bullshit, will keep u posted of what happens,...not leaving this believe me....if anyone has contacts or kickass ideas how to deal with this, let me know pls.

Some brave men went out at Buffels this morning....After a long paddle to the point we had to work hard to get our goggas with "snot slange" plenty and small bream. To top it the wind gave us a good work out with a long wet paddle back into the wind.Inspectors are out in full force so remember to complete cray license before you hit the water and after!!!!Moeg but a nice day out..... Great [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hey Helgard, sorry I wont be able to make as I have family functions to attend this weekend. Windguru predicts a strong south easter at Hangklip and Strand which is very unpleasant! Best bet will be Langebaan, early Sunday morning or check windguru again on Friday, hopefully pray it will change for the better.

Go to Melkbaai this afternoon! F*kken vis byt! Wish I could be there... cry

Cheers,

Imraan
