So who is fishing this weekend ? I am going to see if I can get a snoek on Sat, but the weather prediction is looking borderline.

Sunday looking like the best day, but unfortunately, my ass have to stay at home.

If I can't get snoek, I'll just go gallie fishing at the point.

I def want to get out there. Need some saltwater on my lips again.

Might do one day on the boat and the next on the kayak. Must say both days are looking good.

Will hear from the skipper today when and if we are going out.

I am sure there will be a few guys from WCKA. Snoek is there, but not the numbers that was at seapoint. Looks like the big shoals are close to Houtbay/Kommetjie.

there was some good fish in Strand over the weekend and last night.

Some of us are heading off to Infanta to see if we can tame a raggie (Yeah Right!) and catch some grunter, cob and leeries.

Hey Johnny, lads are going out at Melkbaai at sunrise if you are keen. I' more than likely ruffing it around the corner at blakes reef which is a little more challenging if you feel like dodging a few waves.
May change my mind and go to melkies but lets see as the wind looks like has shifted east tomorrow morning which is a wrong wind but we may still catch a few straglers hanging around from the SE'r tonight.

whereever you decide - enjoy!

The tail went off the bite last weekend. Most catches were made week prior to the 14th feb. This week things have been quite with some fish only coming out on Tuesday. There were a couple of shoals sighted in false bay but no great shakes this past week.

Did anyone get some fish during the week?
Apparently there were lots of yellowtail around from Simons Town to Rooikrantz and around the point last weekend and beginning of this week.

It looks as if this weekend is going to be a blow out. Sunday does have a small window in the morning for the brave. Pic of the spots will be Hangklip/Bettys for cray and light fishing and then perhaps Melkbos.

I am staying high and dry this weekend with the wife and work getting top priority for once.

Couple of very nice sized Cob came out in Strand yesterday evening by Grant (shelfish). Where the pics of your beuties G?

One thing i learnt is that water temp being at 21.8 did not effect them that much. So there goes that theory? scratch

Another thing i can tell you guys is fresh bait is extremely important to successfull fishing. I went out not wanting to take my freshest bait in case the fishing was bad like it has been the past few Weeks (wasted much bait refreezing each time) and guess what!

I got nothing, after struggling for 2 hours i eventually caught a 3 undersized Kob on the chunks of a small baitfish i managed to catch on the sebiki but went home empty.

When the fish are not extremely hungry & a bit lazy because of the warm water, the fresher the bait the better. First prize allways seems to be
the bait fish that is swiming in the area at that time. catching and use that bait will more than likely produce the goods every time!

party cheers

It seems that By popular Vote.... Pringle bay is the Venue for this weekends match up...

Meet up in Pringle at 7:00ish (some may want to be out there earlier) drop nets at 8:00 and out by 10:00.

Hope to see y'all out there.

With the wind swinging.. melkbos may also be a good spot to try later in the weekend.

Have a feeling they will be popping up in the masses soon "quiet" before the storm.

The water temp is def very warm (too warm) and with all the baitfish being macassar side (plenty of them) its also possible the fish are just not hungry and move into the deeper water where its cooler untill they are hungry again and dash in and out the warmer/shallower sections grabbing the easy meals with all this activity of baitfish. Also a possibility is the fish also dont get as hungry with no cold fronts disturbing there eating pattern for over a month and some change now.

my 2 cents

What i have noticed is False Bay is overcrowded with Sharks and Rays at the moment. With the water temp at 24'C+, most spots are only producing sharks and rays. Wednesday night saw us land numerous sharks of various species. (Vaal, spotted, Hammerhead) and countless Rays. (duckbill, "biscuit"). The rays were massive, and broke 60kg line like it was thread. We even got our own personal Great White sighting in Simonstown Yacht basin.

It seems that with the arrival of the warm water and the sharks, the fish have stolen my show and have done the ultimate dissappearing act.
