Carel and myself did Pringle bay yesterday evening and got our hottentot.
This moring went out and landed my cray quota in 30min,
fished for 3 hours and not a biat.
Westerly started coming in, But still a perfect day for the beach.

Took nearly 3 hours for me to get quota as it was very difficult to set the nets properly. As soon as you stop paddling the wind blows you and you can't ensure the net lands flat on the bottom. It was heartbreaking pulling up nets with the crays on the wrong side of the net only to see them let go when they saw the light.

I had to paddle continuously just to keep the nets in sight so basically had a 3 hour paddle! Also lost a net when it got tangled in the kelp. I had left the anchor behind and no way one could dive off the kayak in that wind so I had to cut the rope and leave it behind. I've decided that crayfishing in that wind off a kayak is just too much PT. Will not do that again.

The trick is to tie yourself up on some kelp frond and then only drop the nets....

Geese Wayne talk about a die Hard for kreef, must have been hell! stress That's all i'd need to keep me away from those conditions too!

Nets are not cheap so guess you paid R30 for each Cray and hassle factor of R500 min Rolling Eyes

Launch time is 05:00 at the Slip at Hangklip. Don't know where this is because it's my first time fishing there.

I will be driving behind TFM for directions

"gays"?? hope u meant guys Johnny
Strongest wind is what you as an individual can handle - some can handle very strong others can handle little, you need to assess yourself - i personally would not know your ability so best start off low and when starts getting uncomfortable time to get out. Also depends on how far out you are going. Good to plan for the worst (i.e plan to paddle into a head wind on your homebound journey of around 15nots to be safe). remember everything changes in windy situations from pulling anchor to paddling which you'd better experience a couple of knots at a time.

Hi Gents

Some of us are looking at heading out to Hangklip tomorrow Morning. Launch time is 05:00 at the Slip. Bring your cray nets for after 8:00. Lets see what we can get on the other side of the bay.

Cape Point was also working well yesterday for those who wish to brave the SE.
